Songwriter Wednesday: "Time Machine"

Have you ever wished that you had a time machine to be wherever you wanted to be in the blink of an eye?

No more 80-mile drives to a far distant place just to get into the things that your heart says yes to but your energy says, maybe another time. Instead, you could just climb into a contraption, press a few buttons, and boom, you are there.

You wouldn’t have to rely on airlines and hope that their staff doesn’t all get sick that day. You do not have to sit in rush hour traffic hoping that whatever mess is before you on the journey home will clear up. No more wishing to go back in time to revisit a person or to relive a moment. You could just climb into the time machine and Bam.

That is what I was thinking about when I wrote the song “Time Machine.” After a long work week, I want to be like the road runner and zoom home in a flash. I wish I had a “Time Machine” to be where I want to be and to do what I want to do when I want to do it.

If you could relate to any of this, please check out my song “Time Machine.”

The Indie Music Show Airs Every Tuesday Evening at 9PM EST/ 8PM CST on mixlr.com/jnotemusic

What songwriter doesn’t have ribbons of desire for unique songs to burst into bloom? And what artist or musician doesn’t enjoy the aesthetic appeal of opportunities to have synergy with other creative beings?

I don’t know about you, but I love to hear a bass growling in a live setting. Don’t get me wrong; I guess it has become the thing to be plugged into the digital realm and to fulfill your genuine passion through a Zoom meeting every now and again, especially in these times but, there is nothing like when the melody flows and my gilded wings can unfold right there in the intimate setting of a live, innovative environment.

There is something special about putting your effort, originality and skill into the harmonious menu of a repertoire meant to be performed live. Is that just the way I think or is it a thought that other musicians and those who have a true cultural enjoyment of music thinks?

If perhaps we have the same way of thinking, after you experience the pulchritude of the stunning sunset this evening and you start to drown in the evening’s moonlight, I invite you to engage with NYC musician/songwriter, Stephanie Jeannot and cohost Chicago bassist/songwriter, John Mueller for the newest episode of THE INDIE MUSIC SHOW airing this evening at 9PM EST/ 8PM CST on http://mixlr.com/jnotemusic

What will you hear?  A shared thirst for all things music. We launch conversations about the practice of music, the study of music, the performance and recording of our music and some of the many artists that do music with some beautiful indie sounds sprinkled into the mix.

We dive headlong into it every Tuesday evening at 9PM EST/ 8PM CST and I hope that this blogpost might fan a flame of interest in you to take time out of your schedule this evening and log on to http://mixlr.com.jnotemusic to listen.

Until then, Peace.

Snowy Social Media Saturday in December in New York

I sit here in my office listening to the howling winds of winter whipping against my window as the icy rain falls and brings to my vicinity a cold air that has me reaching out longing for warmer weather.

But it is December and winter solstice follows our weekend and brings in a new season and a new chapter that we will embrace. I will admit that I have never jumped with wild excitement about frigid temperatures because my favorite of the seasons is when the fresh air of lovely, spring moments rides through the atmosphere and the budding flowers point their noses out the soil trying to stand tall to the sun. I quarrel violently with the idea that I must dress warm so that I do not let icy breezes take control of my health. But we must do these things and so we do them.

This morning, I gazed out the window with stark curiosity seeing my car buried under a blanket of snow and realized that winter is here in truth. There is no denying it now. So, while I am inside trying to wrap my mind around it, I wanted to share with you some of the social media platforms where I’d love to connect with you. Hopefully we can connect and fall more in tune with each other.

Look forward to vibing with you again soon!
But until then, stay warm
and be safe in this cold weather.

Happy November

Hi everybody. Happy November! Hope you have had a fantastic start to the autumn season. Mine was a bit exciting. I spent it doing my first ever music tour and it was in Russia.

I did a ten-city tour in Russia performing jazz, pop and some original music in the following cities:

1. Wilson Jazz Festival in Krasnodar
2. Novoross Jazz Club in Novorossiysk
3. Bukowski in Rostov
4. London Music Hall in Sochi
5. A private event in Geledzhik
6. Ever Jazz Club in Yekaterinburg
7. Pravila JAzz Club in Perm
8. Archangelisk Museum in Archangelsk
9. Tatarstan Philharmonic in Kazan
10. Ufa Jazz Club in Ufa

It was a wonderful experience that I am so happy to share with you all. I had always dreamed about singing with an orchestra and I was able to see that day come to fruition. I was also excited to perform some of my original music for the first time ever on an international stage.

I had not know until that moment that people all over the world had known of my music and had been listening to it, including this one teacher who told me she loved my song "Time Machine" and asked my permission to teach it to her students as a way of helping them to learn English.

What an honor. Moments like that will never slip from my memory. I invite you all to check out my song "Time Machine"  which is one of the seven tunes off of my debut album Finally JNote which was recently released to the general public on September 11, 2016.  You can also hear the entire album on Spotify or Itunes; keyword: Stephanie Jeannot.

Thank you so much for all of your support and have an excitingly, wonderful day.

Thank you!

I cannot believe we are once again about to jolt right out of the summer season into the fall in just a few weeks but while we still have summer season days to muddle through, I want to thank you, more than ever, for when we had the opportunity to cross paths and for sharing some of the most memorable moments of summer with me. You give me the confidence to stand bravely in faith and to leave the worries that often rip through me behind with joyous abandon.

But I am not simply writing to feed you with empty words. Today, I feel like an archivist, looking back at all the times you were there and giving me your wonderful support and I wanted to acknowledge you for it. I am still manacled to the smiles and great memories that you shared with me, on each and every occasion. You keep me drumming ahead and though sometimes I get distracted by the possibilities of the promising potentials for the future that lies ahead, I wanted to take the time out to say thank you for being the beautiful people in my life.

Without you, this road on which I travel would be extremely frustrating and unbearably lonely. There is no way I could have ever accomplished growing into the person I am becoming without you.

And so, with the hope of things to come, I look forward to hearing from and seeing more of you in the upcoming months and I wanted to share with you my bounty of fruit:

Upcoming Performances:

On Tuesday, August 30, 2016, The JNote Trio (Stephanie Jeannot on vocals, Traviso Milner on keys, Cylde Bermingham on Guitar) will perform live at Maliblu Oyster Bar located at 1500 Lido Blvd in Lido Beach, NY (Exit M10 off the Meadowbrook Pkwy). It is a night of music, seafood and drink specials and fun. This is a family, friendly restaurant which is open to the public and free to all who would like to be present at this event.

On Saturday, September 10, 2016, I will be the featured vocalist at this year’s Fort Greene Park Jazz Festival located on Dekalb Avenue and South Oxford Street in Brooklyn, NY. Event will begin at 3PM and run through the afternoon. For more information, please visit, http://www.fortgreeneparkjazzfestival.com/

On October 8, 2016, I will be performing with the Bartlett Contemporaries at their Live the Magic Dinner & Dance Party at the Family Life Center located off of Linden Blvd and Merrick Blvd in Queens, NY and it will be a fantastic event.

Great news:
I am excited to announce that I will be releasing a forthcoming album in the next few weeks. The title of my project is Finally JNote which will feature on it, seven original works and I can’t wait to let you all hear some of the music.

I am also excited to announce that I will be doing my first tour this year overseas in Russia during the month of October. Please keep me in prayer as this is the first time for me doing anything as different as this but I am ready.

One more thing!
I am part of the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition and I have entered in four different jazz renditions of songs that Sarah Vaughan has sung at one point in her beautiful life. Here is one of them: My rendition of “Body & Soul.” If you would please take the time to vote for my submission, it would be greatly appreciated: https://www.indabamusic.com/opportunities/5th-annual-sarah-vaughan-international-jazz-vocal-competition/submissions/13ee03ae-2c79-11e6-9e8a-0ecda187fe01

And as the warm summer days begin to disappear into the fall season that is about to embrace us, I am thrilled beyond relief that many of the summer days was shared with you. Thank you for the good dose of inspiration that you successfully instill in me. Your presence is appreciated in such great abundance and hopefully sometime in the near future, our heartbeats will touch once again.

Until then, have a fantastic week, end of summer and may your days ahead be filled with sizzles of joy.

God bless you,
Stephanie Jeannot

Throwback Thursday Memories of "Harmony"

This picture was taken a year ago today and it was a very memorable moment for me.

I remember looking at my surroundings and seeing my life being relived in music. A year prior to this picture which was taken a year ago, the natural beauty of this site left a mark in my heart.

Paul called me and said, “hey, let’s go out and film a video.” I was excited. WE had worked on a song that I really enjoyed and I thought that it would have been pretty cool to create a visual anecdote of it. I cannot  describe how powerful that moment was for me, to get in my car with the idea that a new video was going to be made for my song, “Harmony.” I had no idea how things would go except for the fact that there would be wardrobe changes which I had grown accustomed to doing in my car years ago when my friend Mike used me as a model to test out his new camera for an outdoor photo shoot. While driving, I remember playing my song “Harmony” over and over again so I could make sure that I would not forget any of my lyrics, which as a filmmaker and producer of videos, I have seen many artists forget; it is not an uncommon thing to happen.

I looked at the area that seemed vaguely familiar and the site evoked a memory in me. It was like having a brief moment of de ja vu when I realized at that moment that I had been in this same exact place before. Yet, a year ago, when that picture was taken, I had not even known that the name of the park was Herman Griem Park. I just knew it had some of the most beautiful features.

Paul and I were now connecting on a different level. We had gone from being in the studio for our brief moments of music recording to now taking it to the streets and video recording. I followed his car into an area full of grass covered hills. We drove into the parking lot and I remember seeing young kids playing handball in the hand ball court, and a basketball court which’s gates were locked.  Beside it was more greenery that lead to a brook surrounded by flowers and rocks that stood before a white foot bridge. All I remember was that it was the most beautiful area I had seen in Wyndanch and we were about to film a music video there.

The picture shows a visual of a year ago with me hanging with TN'T's guitarist's grandkids before our performace at Herman Griem Park. Debbie’s grandkids were having a good time and running through the green fields like I had ran through it a year ago prior to the #tbt pic, as Paul viewed the action through the lens of his video camera. The only difference was that the #tbt pic was the day of the Babylon National Parks Department Music Festival and I was performing there with the group TN’T. We were all set to perform before a score of people on the mobile stage which was set up for us.

Images flooded my mind of the three outfit changes I did in my car, the cold air of October that hit my sleeveless arms, the youth that decided to join us as we filmed and Eddie, who played the role of my love interest in the video. And as we started doing our sound check, the sky opened up and rain started escaping the grey clouds that suddenly covered the sky's piercing blue color. Within minutes, the parks department cancelled our outdoor concert.

was happy to have come back to the area this year where we gathered once again to do the Parks Department's outdoor music festival and were welcomed with favor and open arms by the charming sun. This post embodies a series of three separate events in the same park over a period of three years. If interested, you can watch the full length music video for Harmony here: https://youtu.be/Et2DjrOKJAo
