Water Yourself

Thoughts may swirl through the air sometimes that turn your usual upward smiley face into a frown. It doesn’t take a monstrous blaze to notice the embers of doubt coming to fire it’s flames. The truth about you creeps along even when doubt tries to prowl into your system. Don’t get burned; water yourself.

You do not have to frantically search outside for validation. Every exasperating experience does not mean that you have to once again be etched with worry. Resilience usually screams out its sweet words to you and its voice is noticeable because it will start to shower you with good thoughts about who you are. Let that overwhelming sense of love wash over you and soothe what feels lost.

You know who you are. Keeping your mind leveled on the truth easily fixes, soothes and solves. Don’t let lies about your character ruin your delightful heart. You don’t have to yell curses or get angry. You don’t have to let your faith collapse. You do not have to walk around feeling depressed or defeated. Don’t go let out your frustrations on your social media page. There are better ways to handle your situations. Don’t stay thinking that what you are going through is just another sad love song. This is real life.

Instead, find an alternate route. Reach for a pen and a notebook and let the lines be your shoulder to cry on while sitting in a cradle of quietness. Sometimes it takes emptying out what is bottled up inside so you could meet the quiet of your mind; like meditation but only, using writing as the vehicle.

Use your own eyes and heart as your audience and respond to your own situation. How could you have handled it differently? Feedback? What is the next step? How do I move in a better way? What can I learn from all of this?

But while writing, don’t simply stay hyper-focused on the problems, the he say, she says, or the dilemmas. Don’t forget to acknowledge the good things that happened in your life. Root yourself on for standing in resilience. Let out a high-pitched giggle for the things that felt good along the way. You persevered through it all. Remember that!

Keep creating your own dusts of joy and let it sink in. Keep reaching for the sky and rise up to keep meeting the you that makes you smile.

Know yourself. Love yourself. Honor yourself. Trust yourself. Respect yourself. Like yourself. Acknowledge yourself. Celebrate yourself. Give yourself grace. Germinate.

Speaking of persevering, I write songs to help inspire, motivate and celebrate the champions that we are in this world. Don't ever let go of the warrior in you. You are powerful. You are more than enough. You got this. Here are a few songs that might help to inspire you along your journey:

I hope that these songs might add some joyous light to your day. Thank you for reading and for clicking on the song titles to listen to my music. Let me know if you actually did listen and if you did, which song was your favorite. Thanks for the feedback.

Peace and blessings!

There is Always a Reason to be Jubilant; Enjoy Life

In the most mundane moments when you fall deep into thought, and you feel like you want to penetrate into solitude based on your situation that leaves you experiencing doubt, let your soul be inspired by painting a picture in your mind of something great that happened in your life which once delighted your eyes. Don't let doubt control the way that you maneuver this world. Just a thought but . . . who did God uniquely and wonderfully custom create to be ruler over many things?

There is always a reason to be jubilant.

Encourage your own self by remembering all the good about you and about your current position, and let that add the spring in your step that you need to allow joy to grow in the fertile corners of your heart. You are so very blessed!  Don't ever let your doubts hold you in as a prisoner. God is bigger than all of that. That's the mustard seed. Don't let go of it and don't ever forget to let God's faith empower you.

How could you not feel full of life and warmth when you find a reason to smile about your own self?

Let the good you have experienced be etched in your mind and create for you a catchy and upbeat song and dance (some call this life) for you to take on your existence and the world. I mean in all actuality, who’s world is this?

Take Time to Enjoy the New Season of Summer

As the quiet hush of evening came on June 20th, it was safe to say that summer had arrived.

Let’s set the agenda for some cool things to do in the sun. If the essence of your work requires you to be indoors, take a break and enjoy the vitamin D outdoors because it is good for the heart. Don’t allow the only thing to raise your interest level be the commercials for upcoming episodes of “Kendra on Top.” Find places to escape where you can enjoy life and appreciate the new season that God has blessed us with and try your best to stay positive and keep your hopes as high as the rising sun.

Perhaps the summertime is a great time to break out of your comfort zone and try something you never have; like an outdoor yoga class or taking photographs of beautiful scenery in a place that is foreign to you where you have never been.

If you were in a doubtful place during the winter and experienced a spring renewal, then the summertime seems like a great time to press through and reignite the flame of love with life and the world around you. Redefine the landscape of your reality and make life meaningful. The truth is, our lives may never truly fit into a box of perfection. But, so what. Stand firm in the fact that the best is yet to come and allow peace to freely flow like the summer breezes that blow through your hair while lying on the sand.

A smile makes a huge difference in any day. If anything has a representation of valuing the day, it is a smile because it shows that you have found something to be joyous about. This summer, fully commit yourself to finding simple reasons to humbly radiate. Let joy take residence in you and just "Smile".

It is time to celebrate. It is the summertime. It is barbecue season. It is the season of family reunions and fun in the sun. It is time to be outside and having a good time with the young people in our lives playing basketball, hide and seek, kite flying, or other things that fit the season. It is time to go to the beach, lie on the sand and swim in the ocean. It is time to go to outdoor summer concerts and enjoy the beauty of the summer nights. It is time to enjoy ice cream with family and to sit outside enjoying the evening breezes. It is time to go on vacation and explore the world and see different things. It is time to take on those amusement parks and to spend time with the family doing good things.

It is the summer time. Make sure that while you are doing all the work that is required in your busy schedule, that you are also taking time out to appreciate the season. Find joy in the beaming rays because once the joyous weather goes cruising by, you lose it. Remember to embrace the summer sun and to find reasons to smile.

Happy Summer!

You Are Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile

So, my kids are doing Annie for their winter musical and I am here listening to the soundtrack, and though my favorite song from the play is "Tomorrow," another song has grown on me a lot because of the truthful words; "You Are Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile."

If you have yet to hear it, you should definitely consider listening to the soundtrack or seeing the movie. I think I will always love seeing Aileen Quinn, Carol Burnett and Bernadette Peters playing their roles in this film. My family sat down to watch it together on Thanksgiving Day and it was something. Brought back so many memories.

If you have seen it, you know what I am talking about. If you haven’t you should. The Special Anniversary Edition of Annie is available on Amazon.com.
Check it out here: Annie (Special Anniversary Edition)

I hope that today brings to you many, many reasons to smile because it is so worth it. Have a great day!
