It is 2026.
As the new year approached, I was dancing gently in the cold breeze with my black and metallic gold dress on fluttering in the wind, as the ball dropped and everyone screamed “Happy New Year.” The energy that was radiated at that moment was calm and serene. I snapped some pictures, recorded some videos, and made memories that will last for a lifetime. It became abundantly clear that 2025 was no longer a thing and that the new set of 365 days was upon us.
A whole new avenue of possibilities is here. I know the
new year just started but I am looking forward to seeing how it opens up like a
flower in blossom. I’m sparkling with excitement for new music and writing projects.
I won’t get all sapped and sentimental about it yet but, I look forward to letting
it shine like a beacon of hope when these projects are ready.
What I will say is that I have plunged into writing wholeheartedly
lately. I have always been a poet and I write songs but lately, I have put more
of my efforts and time into weaving in stories that are significant to my
cultural heritage from threads of mine and my family’s memories and stories. This year I am
going all in.
