<p class="MsoNormal"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%;">At this moment, my heart is fixated on the entire idea of
summer. I feel empowered simply because the sun is beaming outside and it gives
me vibes that I am on a winning path, which is why I came back to this
atmosphere of respect to share my smiles and confidence with you. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%;">The boundless love of God has brought us here to the month
of July and there are so many unique stories to share about things that
happened in the first half of the year; some that are nothing new under the sun
and some that added an entire new palette of colors to my daily hustle and bustle.
In a nutshell, 2023 stands out from the pack of years that have leaped into my
existence. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%;">I am excited about the summer and started this robust and
thoughtful conversation to wish you a happy and safe July, Independence Day,
and summer, as well as to share with you some of the upcoming live music events
that I will be a part of and hope that you will come to share in the joys of harmonious
sound.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

I love what happens in
the unique cultural art spaces where musicians can vibe with each other and
enjoy the deep reckonings of jazz music; especially when you can add your own
harmonic ideas to it and make it flow. Jazz for me is a powerful driving force
and I love it a lot.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: courier; font-size: large;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: courier; font-size: large;">The year just started and it seems like an entire year
already passed by. Why you may ask?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: courier; font-size: large;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: courier; font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3MXt15hLgJbyJihVSvKnf2_6OOb302qaHiC40qlm-7lPf2ZBQZTtsKhPg9tEVcPpPbFwl_jQZdDbn7iA6rGf6pm7RaE59h31RFZDwM41oQ6og4BBan8Q_b4APiPJXDKmafbrD3Awj3cQODiYmksnotdp-Kt1IoFcsYUEzrKevlyHtHnzZP3Pbk22q/s3017/AdobeStock_489392185.jpeg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2268" data-original-width="3017" height="241" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3MXt15hLgJbyJihVSvKnf2_6OOb302qaHiC40qlm-7lPf2ZBQZTtsKhPg9tEVcPpPbFwl_jQZdDbn7iA6rGf6pm7RaE59h31RFZDwM41oQ6og4BBan8Q_b4APiPJXDKmafbrD3Awj3cQODiYmksnotdp-Kt1IoFcsYUEzrKevlyHtHnzZP3Pbk22q/s320/AdobeStock_489392185.jpeg" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-family: courier; font-size: large;">I experienced a week full of work, a wake, a funeral, and a
death all in a week’s time.<o:p></o:p></span><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-family: courier; font-size: large;"> </span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: courier; font-size: large;">And as we enter into the second week, I just think about all
the good times that I have experienced before this moment that just seemed to
add a bit of weight that I did not expect to have to carry into this new year,
although no one knows the day nor the hour. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: courier; font-size: large;">As I step into this brand-new week, I think about all the blessings
that seem minor which we often overlook. It is hard to not acknowledge the gift of
oxygen that God breathes into us when we watch a person in a hospital bed with
tubes down his/her throat because they cannot breathe on their own. The ability to breathe on your own is something to not take for granted.
I think about people who get sick from the effects of a stroke that might cause them to
be unable to walk, talk or to even use the bathroom on their own. How often do we thank God for the gift of having a
voice that we can use to sing, speak up for ourselves, to talk about things
that are important to us or to just simply be in our right minds? <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: courier; font-size: large;">The older I get, the more I realize how short life really
is and how blessed I am to see another day and to be surrounded by loved ones. This is the year to tell the people you care about that you love them. Do
not ever forsake those moments of care because you never know the day or the
hour that someone’s last breath may be. Love your family. Love yourself. Pray and
bless the people that you care about and share the joys of life the way that
you would want to receive love from others. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: courier; font-size: large;">Life is short. Tomorrow is not promised or guaranteed. The
next moment might be your Last. Live in the moment and appreciate it. May you be blessed today and
always. I dedicate my song "Enjoy Life" to you as I make my mantra for each day of 2023: <i>blessed to see another day</i>; because I truthfully am. <a href="https://youtu.be/alV2ULnr9z8">https://youtu.be/alV2ULnr9z8</a></span><o:p></o:p></p>

our Christmas family reunion in high fashion. It is like walking into the Academy
Awards in your best dress. Some have the most beautiful of red dresses draped
over their bodies. The men all wearing suits or their cute ugly sweaters. Santa
Claus always finds his way here in his big red suit and bag filled with
promises and toys to place under the huge pine tree that greets you when you
walk in. The walkway is sometimes a carpet of fresh, white snow, and it is usually
the most extravagant of parade ways. The hype is so high, it is a celebration
from the moment of entry.</span></p><p><span face="Arial, sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; text-indent: 0.5in;">I haven’t seen some of the

always do when I see them. It is like a glow of stardust washes my troubles
away and brings me sparks of joy. Seeing my family member’s eyes bring a glow
over the verge of tears that I’d been facing. The year can sometimes push me to the brink of
despair but for this family gathering, I feel like a poem of bubbling brooks
and flowers blooming. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

the aroma of something savory is wafting from the kitchen. Every burner and

The counters filled with spices, desserts being decorated, and foods still being
prepped for cooking. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

supper with more food than you would probably eat in the 525,600 minutes that measure
the year. There is so much deliciousness spread out over the table that your
stomach gets filled just by looking at it. My mother put her foot into each and
every bit of the meal that is about to be shared. The turkey timer has popped
and now I can add my corn souffle into the oven so that it can be ready for the
dinner we are about to serve. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%;">I added my two senses into cooking
as well and turn my kitchen into a canvas and the ingredients that get added
are like my paint. Art is on my mind and the ideas I sketch with the charcoal
pencils of my fingertips. The food we eat, a picture-perfect masterpiece like
those in MOMA, and all who are exposed to it are getting a piece of my heart. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%;">The dinner call is sounded,
like a chapel bell of a 16th-century church and the whole family approaches the
table. We gather and we pray over the meal:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%;">“Father God, thank you for the
day that you made and for the food that we eat and for the hands that prepared it
and for the family that gathered, for those who wanted to come but didn’t find
the opportunity, and for those who have become ancestors and rest in your
peaceful arms. That you might continue to bless us and to keep us and to protect
us with your grace and with your love. You are mighty and everlasting and we
love you and bless you. In the name of Jesus. Amen.” <o:p></o:p></span></p>

ones who can barely talk say, “Bonne Appetit,” but we all do it in our little
celebration. Actually, I make sure to make them say it so that they can have
knowledge of some of the words from our Haitian culture. Those words are part
of it. Some of the foods and drinks found on the table are as well like the Kremas
which is like eggnog with rum in it or the Griot which is pork chunks that are
one of the many meat items on the table and diri a djondjon which is black rice
with dried mushrooms. </span><o:p></o:p><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%;">It is more than just the
eating that is involved. The stories we share of tradition and exoticism always
pique my interest. When you think about all the experiences you face in a year’s
time, it is no secret that there is so much to talk about if the right person
to talk to sits at your gate. We sip some of the best Apple Cider you can find
and chat. Maybe a sibling or cousin is the family that becomes your listening
board, or maybe it is a friend who is like family, who intently listens to the ranting
of it all without judgment or interruption. This is what makes the conversations
interesting. There is always something new being told, something different
being shared that you have yet to hear and that you are newly learning for the
first time. The laughter is like a weight being lifted off because it surely
makes you feel better. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%;">We eat and chat and then we play
our annual Taboo game. It is always such a fun experience trying to get our
team to guess the words that we are attempting to animate so that we can win
the game. I think I laugh the most during these times because it is so much fun
just getting lost in these moments that never seem to get old. While we play, everyone is experimenting with all
the different desserts that are on the table; cakes, cookies, pies, ice cream,
jello, and candy. These are the yummy moments that are passed until we start to
distribute all the different gifts that are under the tree. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%;">Everyone in the place is
unwrapping gifts in excitement over what someone thought was a good gift for
them. I’ll never forget the time when my next-door neighbor put a Michael
Jackson jacket in a box for me and gave it to me. I wonder if that was one of
the reasons that I became a performing artist. That was one of my favorites. The
other most memorable was an album of Miles Davis recordings, and I love Miles
Davis. What a beautiful gift to receive from a kid at that. Seems like Auntie’s
baby knows me better than I thought; made me so happy. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%;">The night ends with everyone
packing a big foil tray filled with food to take home. Everyone scatters out
the door back onto the carpet full of snow and make their exit back to their
regularly scheduled programs. It is sad to see them all go and even sadder to
know of all the cleaning that needs to be done to bring the art of Christmas
back to a blank canvas. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%;">I think sometimes I count five
hours of washing dishes, cleaning pots, and putting glasses and other things
back into the china for safe keeping until next year, same time, same
celebration. But to think of the reason for continuing on in this tradition for
as long as we have, a smile is ignited. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%;">We continue on. The numbers
might decrease due to heaven calling some to its gates but it is always a
welcome celebration that will always make Christmas one of my favorite times of
the year. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 107%;">And now that the year is
coming to a close, I am thankful for all these traditions and for all the good
times and bad times, and for being blessed to see this moment of time. I find
peace in it knowing that I made it through. God has been so good and it is not
a secret. May your 2023 be the most
lovely, prosperous, and powerful year that you have ever seen. <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">I was in my office building in mid-town and everybody ascended

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">It was like a movie and so unreal. Who would have thought
something like this could have been happening right before our eyes. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And the craziest part about it all is that it
happened 21 years ago and it is still very fresh in my mind like it was yesterday,
when my friends and I walked along the thoroughfares of Manhattan, over the
Williamsburg Bridge to Brooklyn; I still remember seeing burnt paper from the World
Trade Center showering over the streets of Flatbush as I approached the comfort
of home and the quietness that took over the city that never sleeps thereafter.

of the Medgar Ever’s College Community Radio Stream over the airwaves of <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><b>WNYE 91.5 FM</b>, hosted by show host &

to celebrate the lives lost on the tragic day back in 2001. Hope that you will

in so many different ways. But I am looking forward to the second half of the
year that is about to embrace us with hopes that it will bring about much
better times in all areas of our lives. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;">She was a contralto with a range of three octaves. She sang with

ecstatic world of jazz music and you will hear the voice of the host and

and open mic at Potay.Haiti.Caribbean.Us.All was my point of interest this past
Friday night. I did not really know what to expect but what I can say is that a
blessing was lavished on me just by being present in that space. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTK_CDe_Te5CiWExevsr3cI_6D7ww3ToeYPWdHlMXmMHPf3186ph_31cIkAZDwTUi83cx7ZDOkUHYjHa4HIKutNyt8uMGw1ALnd4Mf9z2d3P5Yd8050q6dUub3SzGoxUNtiC4tUtrHfzI/s1242/IMG_8038.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1229" data-original-width="1242" height="317" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTK_CDe_Te5CiWExevsr3cI_6D7ww3ToeYPWdHlMXmMHPf3186ph_31cIkAZDwTUi83cx7ZDOkUHYjHa4HIKutNyt8uMGw1ALnd4Mf9z2d3P5Yd8050q6dUub3SzGoxUNtiC4tUtrHfzI/s320/IMG_8038.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">With such superb skill and panache,
the host, </span><span style="font-size: large;">Okai, got the air of learning and personal enjoyment flowing. Not
only did he give insight on how to play Conga drums or Djembe drums, but also
how to get your voice across with uniqueness; by voice I mean, the sound that
vibrates out of your hand hitting the drums. And by uniqueness, I mean that
though all participants were taught the same hand gestures, every person still
plays with their own incredible degree of diversity.</span></p><div><o:p></o:p><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">Potay located as 2720 Farragut
Road in Brooklyn, NY definitely had something special going on. As time slipped
away between our fingers, there were a n umber of lessons being learned between
the hand drum class and the open mic that shortly followed it. One of them is
like Paul Coelho said, “wherever your heart is there you will find your
treasure.”<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">My heart has had an inextinguishable
light for singing all my life and most recently in piano. I didn’t actually
consider that I might be accompanying other participants via keyboard or that I
would be learning new songs to play on the spot but being in synchrony with
others at this event helped me to increase my knowledge of my musicianship a
bit more. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">Another thing that I learned
was like Carlos Santana said, “people are flowers. Music is water. Musicians
are the hose.” Considering how the curiosity of knowing more about hand drums
and becoming more familiar with the cultural aspects of it was almost like broaching
the idea that there is nothing wrong with being who you are individually. We
all shared, and all voices were respected and heard which means more to me than
I can express because at that point, it is a realization that there is no
reason to derail your efforts and so it alleviated uncertainties as far as who
you are and what you had to bring to the table because everybody banded
together like family. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So, I felt
comfortable introducing my music and the scope of my performing voice as a live
exhibition to them. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The drum circle event was beyond helpful. I felt
elated to experience gather together on that Friday night and become a part of
the community and to be filled with the wealth of information that I received. It
helped to draw a smile on my face that has yet to leave ever since. If you want
to see for yourself how it went, I invite you to check out this video for
yourself and hopefully, it will bring you joy as it did for me. Watch it here: <a href="https://youtu.be/7LBROH-GfjM" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/7LBROH-GfjM </a><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%; text-align: center;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;"><iframe frameborder="0" height="270" src="https://youtube.com/embed/7LBROH-GfjM" width="480"></iframe></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%;"><span face=""Arial",sans-serif" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;"><o:p> </o:p></span><span face="Arial, sans-serif" style="font-size: 12pt;">Potay has a lot of great
things going on at it’s establishment. Like for instance, on Thursdays, they
have Capoeira classes where you can learn the art of this cultural dance. Every
day after school, there is tutoring being offered for those who need it. And on
Friday afternoons, I will be teaching singing and piano.</span></p>

particularly in Illinois. Elk Grove is a
city in Illinois with about a million and two parks and walk/bike paths.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">My music writing partner and I would stroll down many of
those paths there and I am big on pictures and so there was always a picture or two
of the beautiful landscape images being taken as we walked, talked and enjoyed the beauty of mother nature. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">I have grown accustomed to long-distance walking with my
first time being a 10.5 walk on purpose from Midtown Manhattan to Northwest Brooklyn.
It came as a natural thing to experience the natural hills and peaks of all
terrain walking; especially since I started to do the walk about once a week. Yet
still, it did not truly prepare me for my first experience with hiking.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsMYcNpeOO2LprfRruy8RxIJpavUpzfLShR4wHFQv3oecsMs8NZlvlmlKV936Q3oZAb_lSS7u3Hgn-8XlPy1cS4FQYr1Asps00pgutpMKSzOGkpf3nm6jyMUT5OKgBkknf-QMzyTszuwQ/s2048/IMG_7606.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsMYcNpeOO2LprfRruy8RxIJpavUpzfLShR4wHFQv3oecsMs8NZlvlmlKV936Q3oZAb_lSS7u3Hgn-8XlPy1cS4FQYr1Asps00pgutpMKSzOGkpf3nm6jyMUT5OKgBkknf-QMzyTszuwQ/w300-h400/IMG_7606.jpg" width="300" /></span></a></div><b><span style="font-size: medium;">Hiking</span></b><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">I recently did a day hike over the Torne Mountain Loop of
the Norvin Green State Forest in Bloomingdale, NJ. It was different. It was
intense. It was tiring.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">I didn’t realize how hard it was to walk uphill; especially
since almost everywhere I go is by motor vehicle. The advantage of walking is
to be in the midst of peacefulness and to also burn some calories. Hiking is a
great way to exercise. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">So, the mountain trail is about an hour drive from Brooklyn,
NY to get to that mountainous region of New Jersey. Some people do it recreationally
for pleasure and then there are others who do it to burn some good old
calories. I did it because I have seen pictures and videos of some of my
colleagues who have been hiking and they looked pretty interesting. I can see
why many may see hiking as a spiritual quest to reignite the flames that burn the
inspiration within. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The climbing, risk and
challenges associated with hiking as well as the views of the beautiful
landscapes along the 1.5 mile trail is quite rewarding. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">I thought it was pretty cool that my friend’s phone was furnished
with a digital map that actually could tell us exactly where we were along the
Torne Mountain Loop and there were blue markers along the journey to help us to
follow the path from beginning to end which is a great idea so that you do not
get lost in those woods. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size: medium;">If I had any tips to give they would be:<o:p></o:p></span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">1. Wear sturdy boots not sneakers. I wore my sneakers and
the many rocks can pierce holes into them. Though you will be able to get through
a moderate mountain trail with sneakers on, your best foot support will be like
a pair of thick boots with strong soles. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">2. It is an intense workout and so keep in mind that you
will sweat and depending on the season when you go, you want to dress appropriately.
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">3. Definitely carry a first aid kit because you never know.
You might fall. You might step on something or scrape your skin and need to
apply a band aid or alcohol to it. And with that in mind, it probably would be better to go with someone so you could have each other just in case. I definitely would not trail it by myself. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> <br /></span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimOJUHTVTImvonFEQ1XK_JTrzPCwnI1W0gZn19Q82HstKOh40XSRVC0OLSgtzOFpqar6QrE7crCYgHTu37Q_ST74xu2M_n9fF5nQFuS4Drtt1bKRYDqSYyLLlSfgEUAon7WzeFBWn-NIU/s2048/IMG_7600.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1539" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimOJUHTVTImvonFEQ1XK_JTrzPCwnI1W0gZn19Q82HstKOh40XSRVC0OLSgtzOFpqar6QrE7crCYgHTu37Q_ST74xu2M_n9fF5nQFuS4Drtt1bKRYDqSYyLLlSfgEUAon7WzeFBWn-NIU/s320/IMG_7600.jpg" width="240" /></span></a></div><span style="font-size: medium;">4. I was told to climb the rocks like they are stairs and
going uphill, it seemed right. The going downhill was the hard part and so, you
have to be careful and focus so that you do not get hurt meaning, you cannot
have your phone in your hand because you will need your hands to climb down
sometimes.</span><p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">5. I was also told that drinking water while climbing uphill
could make the experience a little bit harder. So, I would say, bring your
water and when you have a chance to take a pause, then drink your water. But
definitely not before you start. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">Overall, I enjoyed it. It was challenging but interesting.
It was an intense workout, but one that my body could use. I would definitely
go again. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p>

of my life since I was in the Fifth grade. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">Poetry was my love and the love grew into songs and I like
to sing them. I am a poet at heart. I try to write on a daily basis but most
importantly, as much as I can with who I am and with what time I have. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">I had the opportunity to try applying a piece of my poetry
to music while listening to a musical melody created by my friend, John Mueller.
<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHmAEk1TaQkO1A4tcEmW-R80YMtcM2Hm5ZHaOXV4bS21CZMauNLlMcainoVgiIgu6YXGKvcbSRk867kDu73qM1OtJ7Ynk9BGKf8VMngkEDDHLMVk6gG2uSX-f1bHpF_apOD6gRkplPvwo/s828/IMG_7570.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><img border="0" data-original-height="466" data-original-width="828" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHmAEk1TaQkO1A4tcEmW-R80YMtcM2Hm5ZHaOXV4bS21CZMauNLlMcainoVgiIgu6YXGKvcbSRk867kDu73qM1OtJ7Ynk9BGKf8VMngkEDDHLMVk6gG2uSX-f1bHpF_apOD6gRkplPvwo/w400-h225/IMG_7570.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">I took the track, added my poem, sung harmonies and some piano riffs to Mueller's booming bass and guitar riffs, and it became a poetic song entitled, “Funkalicious.”</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium;">It is about letting go of your doubts and fears to come into
who you were meant to be. I do not know how many will agree with me, but often
times, when we are in the season of hopes and have aspirations, it is a common
thing for naysayers to speak a tongue of doubt into your spirit to turn all
your hopes into fears. The bigger idea is to not let things come in the way of
who you are and instead, to live with a sense of hope in the things that you
aspire to do. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

Language is a vessel of love that you use while dancing to your rhythm of life.
I have had full color samples of the way my people speak, listening to my

enthusiastic jazz artists from all around the globe that shift my mind to peace
when I hear their musical expression. The diversity of style from jazz great to
jazz great gives me a pure passion to listen to their razzle dazzle. Sarah

had a profound impact on me and I often find myself playing her awe inspiring
works on repeat and echoing her sweet refrains. <o:p></o:p><p></p>

full of lyrical color and vocal dexterity to bring hope, balance, restoration,
and self-empowerment to people seeking to be organically uplifted. My music
marries a love of creative energy, a powerhouse voice, and an appreciation for
the culture and art of writing. I believe that the songs I write can change the
world and positively affect people. <o:p></o:p></span></span><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="background: rgb(0, 0, 0); color: white; font-family: arial; font-size: large; line-height: 107%;">I enjoy talking through my music and
saying things that are in my heart that I probably wouldn’t be able to say with
just mere words. The different things that I unleash through writing represents
my voice for the world.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
